Band "Vily" performs music in the style of folk-rock, inspired by history and mythology of the Great Steppe in all the richness of its images - the Sarmatian virgins Amazons and nomads of Genghis Khan, the Varangian expeditions to south and the Slavic temples. Musicians complement their vision of the ancient world and folk traditions with stylish arrangements, and in these compositions two worlds meet and merge together - the world of ancient paganism and modernity.


Name of the band is "Vily" that can be translated as "Pitchfork" becouse of consonance. Can be but shouldn't, becouse truly that word means "Vilas". In ancient times people called so cloud maidens. In this case the word "vila" comes from "vit'" (to twine) - maidens twine cloud tow and pull silver threads of rain out of it. Vilas were considered the prophetic spinners, patronesses of witchcraft and plants, medicasters. Cloud maidens like to fly in the sky, to dance in the moonlight, to swing on the birches. Because the villa akin to the good spirits, they commonly are called "white". Mythology mentiones the swan wings of Vilas. If man steals these wings, Vila surely will come to him to ask them to return. Vilas have mellifluous voice, that charm people.
