In this case the word "vila" comes from "vit'" (to twine) - maidens twine cloud tow and pull silver threads of rain out of it. Vilas were considered the prophetic spinners, patronesses of witchcraft and plants, medicasters. Cloud maidens like to fly in the sky, to dance in the moonlight, to swing on the birches. Because the villa akin to the good spirits, they commonly are called "white". Mythology mentiones the swan wings of Vilas. If man steals these wings, Vila surely will come to him to ask them to return. Vilas have mellifluous voice, that charm people.
